Affiliate Marketing With Facebook

Many marketers assume that Facebook doesn’t work for affiliate marketing, after they try it and fail miserably. That’s a bad assumption, however - it works great if you do it right. In this article, we’re going to cover a few things that you need to remember when using Facebook for affiliate marketing.

The first - and most important - thing is that people aren’t expecting a sales pitch on Facebook. They’re there to be social - keep in touch with friends, play games, share pictures, etc. If you interrupt this socializing with a sales pitch, it usually falls flat.

You need to work your marketing into their social stream so it seems more natural to them.

If you’re not sure what you want to promote already, an effective method is to pick a market that a lot of people are interested in and set up a Facebook Page.

For example, you could create a page about coffee and then post updates about things like new types of beans you’ve tried, different coffee shops you like and so on. There are a lot of people who are coffee aficionados and would “Like” a page like this.

Post updates about various things - new beans you try, news about Starbucks and other coffee companies and so on. But you can also mix in some low-key promotions in the form of Amazon links or other product links. Which are your affiliate links, naturally.

Stay away from blatant pitches though - make it more conversational.

Facebook is also a good source of new leads for your marketing funnel. They will get added to your network when they like your Facebook Page. Then work on getting them to visit your website where they can opt into your email list.

This puts them into a marketing funnel with a little more flexibility than what you get with Facebook.

You’re obviously not going to convince all your Facebook friends to join your email list, but any who do are more than you would have otherwise.

Facebook can be an effective marketing channel, just make sure you adjust the way you market to people there to suit their mindset.
