Internet Marketing for Small Business
July 3rd, 2008 by lisamcopeSmall businesses are called small businesses because they are, well, small. They have smaller capital, smaller number of employees, limited production?but these should not also account for having just a small market. Small businesses should not be contented with limited visibility among their target markets.
There are many online companies who offer their services to small businesses who are out to conquer the big world of the Internet. These professionals set up everything that a small business needs and they do all the dirty work such as promotions, press releases, even web hosting services. In short, they have all that a small business would need for internet marketing (and, yes, they do charge a certain amount for their services).
There are also e-books, online training courses and online seminars that could help educate small business owners. These programs would discuss the basics of internet marketing and how to implement the marketing methods.
If in case the business would want to preserve the money that they are going to pay the internet marketing companies, or even enrollment money, they could actually opt to do some of these methods:
1. Create your own website but make sure that everything you place in there is going to be professional-looking.
2. Go into e-mail marketing: stuff like sending out newsletters or bulk e-mails. These are effective because they can be done for free and it can have many recipients. The most effective form of e-mail marketing, though, is sending a newsletter. This is because a newsletter does not look like it?s selling something and you can deliver your company?s message effectively.
3. Join social networking sites and groups that share the same interests as the industry that your business is in.
4. Create internet marketing articles that would entice your target market towards your site (make your message short yet effective). Promote your website by doing this?who knows, this might even lead to being noticed and eventually being the topic for a news article. Join blogsites where you get to talk about your business for as long as you want and where people could leave comments that would eventually help you in making your company better. This means you go about and advertise your company on all of the sites that offer free advertisement placements.
5. Practice good SEO (or search engine optimization) techniques. Right now, the best way to do that is to bombard your advertisements with your company name and the name of the products that you are offering.
6. Get involved with media personnel. If there are internet marketing conferences, attend them as you would have greater chances of meeting people who do not only share your interest but also media people who could help you in advertising your business. If you cannot meet up with these kinds of people, you can make a list of all the local newspapers and contact the editors there. At a small fee, they would be able to advertise your business.
7. If you can afford it, have some giveaways for your potential market. People naturally like getting gifts and all other free stuff and when your company does just that, you are opening opportunities for sales growth. Samples of your products could be great giveaways?if you?re marketing soap bars, you could give one bar away (this single bar could possibly return 5 bars that are to be sold).
These are the simplest methods that small businesses could opt for. There are a lot more so study and make sure that a certain method fits your business best. And a word of advice: try all of the free internet marketing methods because you?ve got nothing to lose!
