What a week it has been with no power, but we made it. However, for some (like my sister) in the flood zone who just had to evacuate her home for the second time and all the people who are still suffering without power or worse yet very little food and water it isn’t over yet. They are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thank goodness her and her family are safe here with us and we have electricity again, so we can all do our best to try and get back to some sense of normalcy. There is still a lot of clean up to do and hopefully her home won’t sustain any more damage from the flood waters.

Right now, we have nine people, six dogs and five cats in the house and while we’re bound to get on each other’s nerves at least a little bit the important thing is that we’re all safe and together. Wish us luck!

I must say, I don’t enjoy these mandatory vacations. Being completely cut off is a very scary and frustrating thing. Even though they say it’s possible to run your business on mobile devices this isn’t always easy especially when you have no power for a week and most of the cell towers in your area are out. On a good day, I could send and receive random texts but it was spotty at best.

I am just now sorting through all the emails and messages I received. Doing my best to respond to all the wonderful people, customers and subscribers (like you) who reached out to check on me and my family during the storm. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. I’m so thankful. There just aren’t words to express my gratitude.

Until now I really hadn’t thought much about how my business would survive a disaster. Thank goodness, I’ve been doing this for so long that I have certain systems in place to make sure that my income didn’t suffer too much, but this long stretch of not being able to actively participate in my business hurt financially for sure.

It also showed me where my weaknesses are, so as I get back to work I can do my best to fix the areas that are weak and improve my existing systems so if something like this ever happens again my business won’t suffer.

Have you ever thought about what would happen to your business if disaster struck?

As I was sifting through my email I noticed one from Susanne Myers of Piggy Makes Bank. Her and her business partner Tracy Roberts were in the path of Hurricane Irma too. In the email, she mentioned a blog post she wrote titled “Is Your Business Ready to Weather the Storm?” that I want to share with you today.

You can read it here.

It’s about a lot more than making it through a hurricane like we just did or any other type disaster, whether it’s a health crisis or a natural catastrophe there are things you can do to ensure your business will keep working for you until you’re back on your feet. I hope you find it as helpful as I did and that you take some time to think about what would happen to your business if disaster struck.

One of the ways they are keeping their business strong and consistently driving traffic to their website is by offering free content that people like you and I can use to make our jobs easier. It's a GREAT shortcut that most online publishers don’t take advantage of partly because they have NO idea it’s possible to use pre-written content as their own, but we know different 😉

Nicole Dean from Coach Glue is always telling me load those articles up into you blog as drafts and the next time you need to write a quick post, you’re ready and it’s true. It's nice because you can use them as your starting point to create something completely unique and as she likes to say “totally awesome” to feed your readers!

I hope you've gotten some good ideas that will help you make your business stronger and if you're in need of great (FREE) PLR content you can use on your blog, here is a whole page full.

It really will help you spend less time in front of your computer, so the next time you get your hands on a great pack of PLR articles don’t waste any time uploading them to your blog as drafts so you're ready when ever you need to post!

Thank you for reading. I appreciate you and I hope you have a great day. Did I mention how wonderful it is to have electricity again 😀 I'm so glad to be back online!

Until later,
Lisa M Cope

If you have any questions about any of the products or content in this post please let me know. I want you to be able to put them to good use and I'll be glad to help!

Hello and welcome to this week’s Monday Minutes. Each week in this series I am going to share simple tips and advice that you can implement quickly to help your business become more successful.

Monday Minutes

This week’s tip all about plugging those pesky (money stealing) leaks in your sales funnel.

This week we’re going to dig a little deeper into the topic of sales funnels and talk about why they leak and what you can do to fix it.  For a business owner with a solid funnel in place, it’s easy to look at the number of subscribers at each level of the funnel and predict relatively accurately what the sales are going to be from day to day or week to week.

However, if you have a funnel in place and your numbers aren’t looking good, chances are your funnel has a hole. Maybe even two or three, where subscribers are falling through the cracks. The good news is that once you learn how to spot the leaks, they’re easy enough to fix.

Why Your Funnels Leak—And What to Do About It

Leaky funnels are usually caused by one (or more) of the four common problems:

- Slow or no traffic

The very heart of your sales funnel is traffic. Without visitors to your blog or opt-in pages, you’ll have no subscribers. Without subscribers, you’ll have low (or no) sales and without sales, you’ll have no business. Yet this is where many of us struggle. How can you get more eyes on your content and more subscribers into your funnel?

The fix for getting more traffic

Traffic generation is an entire industry of its own, but here are some tips: Use good SEO to encourage search engines to rank your content well. Be present and active in the places where your ideal consumer hangs out, whether that’s on social media, in niche forums, or at live events. Use paid ads to drive targeted traffic to highly relevant pages. Recruit JV (joint venture) partners and affiliates to promote your offers. Buy solo ads in related email newsletters.

- The follow-up

This is a leaky funnel mistake that a lot of new entrepreneurs make. They spend a lot  of time and energy setting up a great squeeze page and driving traffic to it, they deliver the goods to their new subscribers, and then nothing. No follow up emails, no offers. Nothing – crickets- silence!

- The follow-up fix

Before you spend time building that opt-in page or offer, be sure you have a back-end product funnel to promote and a series of emails in place to send to those subscribers you so carefully collected. If you don’t it will end up costing you money instead of making it.

The call-to-action

This happens most typically at the top of the funnel. Your blog posts, social media content, podcasts, YouTube videos. Everything that you offer for free must have a call-to-action (CTA), or it’s dead end content and a waste of your time and energy. Your call-to-action can be as simple as “Subscribe to my newsletter for this free report” or “Follow me on Facebook for great tips,” but it must be there.

 - The CTA fix

Every time you write a blog post or an email, think to yourself, “What do I want my readers to do when they’re done reading/listening/watching this?” That becomes your call to action.

- Not making offers

When you’re just starting out, this can be a problem. You know you need to build a mailing list, but with nothing to offer them, what’s the point? The truth is, there are plenty of ways to make money in your funnel even if you don’t have your own product to sell. You just have to get creative!

- The offer fix

When you don’t have your own products to sell you can promote affiliate offers. No matter what industry you’re in, there are a variety of tools and products your readers need. Find those tools, sign up for the affiliate programs, and recommend them to your readers. Not only will your readers thank you for pointing them in the right direction, but you’ll earn a tidy commission, too.

Now that you know how to spot a leaky sales funnel you can fix it with a few tweaks and some attention to your follow-up systems. Once you plug those holes you should see an increase your profits in no time!

Hello and welcome to this week’s Monday Minutes. Each week in this series I am going to share simple tips and advice that you can implement quickly to help your business become more successful.

Monday Minutes

This week’s tip all about getting a bigger impact with your Instagram photos.

Instagram is one of the largest social media platforms on the internet and in terms of engagement it’s one of the best. This powerful social network has an ability to inspire brand loyalty like almost no other platform thanks to its highly visual nature. Unlike other networks, you can use it to make your business, products and services look more glamorous and exciting thereby selling a dream to your audience.

When it comes to marketing on Instagram, your objective is to sell a dream!

You want to promote a certain lifestyle and communicate a way of life to your audience that they will find inspiring and will convince them to follow your channel and eventually become a loyal customer.

For instance, if you have a coaching business, then you need to portray a lifestyle that’s full of positive energy and abundance and that makes you appear as someone who can help your clients change their lives for the better. On the other hand, if you have a fashion brand, then you need to show people that you’re put together and looking beautiful, thereby selling them the dream that your products will do the same for them.

So, the BIG question is… how do you sell the dream?

With Instagram it’s all about the details

When it comes to painting a picture with your Instagram pictures, it’s important that you pay attention to even the smallest details. You image need to communicate a successful business. No one wants to buy from someone who looks unprofessional or seems as though they can’t get their own act together!

  • Keep in mind that it’s the tiny things you forget that can indicate the most about you and your brand.

For example, if you are taking photos of your physical product to make it look more attractive on Instagram, then you need to think about the condition of the packaging as well as the props and the stetting. While you may have the most fantastic product on the planet, if there is a coffee stain and some cookie crumbs on the table next to it then it won’t matter. Your audience will only see the mess.

Tell a story with your photos

Think about the small details in your photo and how can indicate other things about yourself and your business. Think about the story you are telling through the things that are present or absent in your images.

For example, you can share a photo of yourself running in the rain, or you can take a photo of your running shoes covered in mud with your water bottle next to them for effect. In just a few words, this is telling your audience that you’ve just been on a run and it says something about your determination and your love of fitness.

When you leave the viewer to fill in the blanks, it can often have a bigger impact than if you come right out and attempt to ‘say’ something with your photo.

Love those filters

Instagram is all about the filters! It's one of the things that makes it so well suited for marketing. A filter can increase the saturation and contrast in a photo, thereby making a sunny location look that much brighter and more vivid. There are all kinds of fun filters that can make your photo look more appealing to your followers with the tap of your finger.

When you’re using filters, think about the emotions you want to evoke and then tweak your photo to inspire a reaction from your followers! Just remember that even if they know it isn’t true to life, it’s all about the way it makes them feel.
