Whether or not the copy that you produce achieves good results has a lot to do with how people react to it. It is important to keep in mind that people like to read information that speaks to them specifically because it is what they can relate to. For this reason many writers got to great effort to make sure that their copy is customized to ensure that the reader will feel as if it was written with their wants and needs in mind.

Having the ability to personalize your copy ensures that what you create is distinctive and proof of your abilities. When it comes to personalizing copy there are several methods that you can use to write copy that genuinely stands out among the rest.

It is very important that you not only know who your target audience is, you must also know yourself.

- Are you positive and upbeat?
- Assertive and commanding?
- An aggressive go getter?
- Optimistic or realistic?
- Calm and peace-loving?

If you aren’t sure which personality type you are try taking test or asking family or close friends what they think.

While this may not seem important to know who you are when you are writing copy to reach other people it is. In fact it is one of the most common mistakes that writers make when creating cop. They try to become someone they are not; thinking the reader will appreciate the gesture.
This assumption is completely wrong, because readers can be very clever when it comes to recognizing fakes and believe me the tone of your writing will let them know whether or not you are trying to bluff your way through.

So instead of pretending to be someone you are not to reach your target audience try injecting your own personality when you write your copy. You will discover that it will be much easier to write.

Always remember that writing is a method of expression, therefore it has the same function as speech when it comes to communicating your message. Try to talk to your readers through your writing with the same tone and style that you would use if you were talking to a friend or coworker.

It is also a good idea to try using the first and second person when writing. For instance; if you want to personalize your copy when writing about organic gardening you should avoid using third person nouns such as ‘the gardener’, ‘they’ or ‘them’ and use ‘I’, ‘my’, ‘you’ or ‘your’ to make it sound as if you’re talking directly them.

To help the process, try to imagine that you are involved in a real conversation with your reader. By writing content that seems like you are speaking to the reader directly, it is possible to create highly personalized copy and you will be amazed to find that the flow of ideas will be much easier to relate to.

By constructing copy that your readers find interesting and that allows your personality to shine through at the same time you will ensure that your readers will have a clear understanding of the message that you are trying to convey.
