What a week it has been with no power, but we made it. However, for some (like my sister) in the flood zone who just had to evacuate her home for the second time and all the people who are still suffering without power or worse yet very little food and water it isn’t over yet. They are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thank goodness her and her family are safe here with us and we have electricity again, so we can all do our best to try and get back to some sense of normalcy. There is still a lot of clean up to do and hopefully her home won’t sustain any more damage from the flood waters.

Right now, we have nine people, six dogs and five cats in the house and while we’re bound to get on each other’s nerves at least a little bit the important thing is that we’re all safe and together. Wish us luck!

I must say, I don’t enjoy these mandatory vacations. Being completely cut off is a very scary and frustrating thing. Even though they say it’s possible to run your business on mobile devices this isn’t always easy especially when you have no power for a week and most of the cell towers in your area are out. On a good day, I could send and receive random texts but it was spotty at best.

I am just now sorting through all the emails and messages I received. Doing my best to respond to all the wonderful people, customers and subscribers (like you) who reached out to check on me and my family during the storm. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. I’m so thankful. There just aren’t words to express my gratitude.

Until now I really hadn’t thought much about how my business would survive a disaster. Thank goodness, I’ve been doing this for so long that I have certain systems in place to make sure that my income didn’t suffer too much, but this long stretch of not being able to actively participate in my business hurt financially for sure.

It also showed me where my weaknesses are, so as I get back to work I can do my best to fix the areas that are weak and improve my existing systems so if something like this ever happens again my business won’t suffer.

Have you ever thought about what would happen to your business if disaster struck?

As I was sifting through my email I noticed one from Susanne Myers of Piggy Makes Bank. Her and her business partner Tracy Roberts were in the path of Hurricane Irma too. In the email, she mentioned a blog post she wrote titled “Is Your Business Ready to Weather the Storm?” that I want to share with you today.

You can read it here.

It’s about a lot more than making it through a hurricane like we just did or any other type disaster, whether it’s a health crisis or a natural catastrophe there are things you can do to ensure your business will keep working for you until you’re back on your feet. I hope you find it as helpful as I did and that you take some time to think about what would happen to your business if disaster struck.

One of the ways they are keeping their business strong and consistently driving traffic to their website is by offering free content that people like you and I can use to make our jobs easier. It's a GREAT shortcut that most online publishers don’t take advantage of partly because they have NO idea it’s possible to use pre-written content as their own, but we know different 😉

Nicole Dean from Coach Glue is always telling me load those articles up into you blog as drafts and the next time you need to write a quick post, you’re ready and it’s true. It's nice because you can use them as your starting point to create something completely unique and as she likes to say “totally awesome” to feed your readers!

I hope you've gotten some good ideas that will help you make your business stronger and if you're in need of great (FREE) PLR content you can use on your blog, here is a whole page full.

It really will help you spend less time in front of your computer, so the next time you get your hands on a great pack of PLR articles don’t waste any time uploading them to your blog as drafts so you're ready when ever you need to post!

Thank you for reading. I appreciate you and I hope you have a great day. Did I mention how wonderful it is to have electricity again 😀 I'm so glad to be back online!

Until later,
Lisa M Cope

If you have any questions about any of the products or content in this post please let me know. I want you to be able to put them to good use and I'll be glad to help!

Hello and welcome to this week’s Monday Minutes. Each week in this series I am going to share simple tips that you can implement quickly to help your business become more successful.

Monday Minutes

This week’s tip is all about writing blog posts that convert your visitors into raving fans by injecting your personality to your posts. Why, because it's the fastest ways to help you gain the trust of your readers.

If you do a lot of reading online chances are you've come across dry, boring content, and to say it’s boring is putting it nicely. As a writer, you should strive to inform your readers, but you also have to keep them interested and entertained. Adding personality to your writing is one of the best ways to do that. It will also help you stand out from the crowd and more importantly from your competitors.

With that little lecture out of the way 😉 let's look at some easy ways you can make your blog posts burst with so much personality readers will feel almost like they're talking to you in person.

Tell stories

Stories are happening all the time, to all of us. If you have a unique experience on the topic you're writing about then be sure to share it because it will help make your content seem more tangible. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your own stories don’t worry, third party stories will work too.

Talk to friends, colleges or do a search online find a great relevant story to add to your content. Don’t steal stories, that would be wrong, but you can quote and reference.  Just remember the golden rule “when in doubt ask”. Generally, the story teller will be more than happy to let you use their story and thank you for the shout out.

Don't be afraid

Many writers try to make their posts appeal to everyone by staying neutral when they write, which works for reporters who just need to share the facts, but when writing for your audience you shouldn't be afraid to take a stand and voice your opinion in a polite way of course. It will help make your content more interesting. Keep in mind that when you try to please everyone, most of the time you end up pleasing no one!

Keep it close to your heart

Whenever possible choose topics that you know, or even topics you love. When you have a passion for something your excitement and energy comes through in your writing, there's no hiding it. You’ll also have a lot of the information to pull from. If you have to write about something you’re not particularly interested in (which happens when you’re working for a living) then try to find a way to connect with the topic. Look for anything about it that excites you and focus on that.

Have a conversation

One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a blogger is talking AT your readers. It makes them tune out faster than changing a radio station in the car. If you want them to relate to you it's extremely important that you talk to them just like you would a friend.

To help with this, envision your ideal reader, and rather than trying to write to your entire audience, write only to them. Another quick tip is to imagine you’re writing an email rather than a blog post, and your tone will automatically become more personable. Try it you’ll be surprised at how well it works.

If your new to this writing for profit thing it may take some time to develop your own unique personality, so keep working at it. As a blogger, it is one of them most important things you can do to increase your conversions.

I'm so glad you made it all the way to the end of this post. I truly appreciate your time and I would like to give you a little gift! It’s a printable worksheet and checklist you can download use to help you make your blog posts convert better. Enjoy!

Calling all Bloggers, Podcasters, Authors, Speakers, Affiliate Marketers, Coaches & Consultants to Exposure & Profit 3

An Amazing Live Marketing Event
July 22-24, 2016 in Atlanta Georgia!

Are you sick and tired of trying to grow your business on your own?  I know exactly where you're coming from! I've been a solo entrepreneur since I decided to be a stay at home mom a little over 18 years ago.

I'll be honest it hasn't always been sunshine and roses.  There have been plenty of ups and downs along the way, but I have never once regretted my decision to give up working full time in order to be there and watch my daughter grow to the beautiful young lady she is today.

Even though I've been at this for a long time until recently that I realized I wasn't really seeing the success that I knew deep down in my heart was possible for my business and as I've gone through the process of rediscovering my business goals I've come to the realization that even though I pride myself as being a lone business woman capable of handling anything, my business hasn't reached its full potential because I've kept to myself, in my safe little bubble, doing my thing.

Stop living on an island of one!

Well I'm here to tell you it's time to stop living on an island of one. It’s time to grow your business with people who can help you achieve your goals and dreams. Lately it's been like a hammer hitting me in the head and it's a message that needs to be shared you're not in this alone!

There are other people in the world just like you, just like me who want to be successful. They want to be fantastic bloggers, profitable affiliate marketers, awesome coaches and until we step out of our comfort zones, start meeting and networking with them the level of success we're hoping for is always going to be just out of our reach.

That is why I'm so excited to tell you about the Exposure & Profit live event coming up in July. It is hosted by the awesome Kelly McCausey, a lovely lady that I have been following for quite a while now. She is also solo entrepreneur as well as the creator Solo Smarts and the Stretch Yourself Challenge!

Who is Kelly McCausey?

Just in case you aren’t familiar with her she’s a single mom who has built her own successful business from at home, which is exactly what I have been doing for the last 18 years. She is well respected and has established herself as a fearless leader in her community of loyal followers.

exposureandprofit-2She launched Work at Home Mom Talk Radio in 2003 where she discovered the power of using content to build a community. As it grew it was rebranded as Solo Smarts. She also creates her own information products, but her real passion is helping people build their business and working one on one with coaching clients. This is her third time hosting this EP3 and according to her raving fans it just gets better every year.

Before I tell you why I think it is so important to attend live events I want to tell you a little more about EP3, what you will learn, who you’ll learn from and how important it can be for growing your business online.

First, I want to tell you about Nicole Dean

She is absolutely one of my favorite people, she is a published author, popular speaker, and a business consultant to really smart and successful people.

She is the fearless leader of the Awesomization Nation, helps Business Coaches grow with CoachGlue and, she is the co-founder of Beachpreneurs with Kelly where they help lady entrepreneurs have bold breakthroughs from beautiful Florida beaches.

Then there is Ann Boyum

She is known as a truth teller and transformation leader in her community. She has been an executive coach since 2008 where she supports people through key transitions at work, play, and in life.

Next there is Greg Cesar

He is an international expert in creative internet marketing strategies. He knows how to sell products with over 100,000 customers buying from him online. He has helped thousands of students to drive laser targeted traffic to their websites with his creative thinking and If you go to EP3 you’ll get to learn from him.

You will also learn from:

Content Marketing Expert Alice Seba

NY Times Best Selling Author Ron Douglas

Former Corporate VP Turned Internet Profiteer Lee Collins

And Wendy Y. Bailey, who's known as the “Force of Nature” and trendsetter in the coaching industry, because of her fearless approach to innovation and that is barely scratching the surface of all the awesome people you’ll get to meet, learn from and form profitable relationships with at is live event.

If you want to see the full lineup check it out here!

ep3-lineupThere is also an awesome lineup of workshops, classes and networking events starting Thursday, July 21 with the optional refresh 😉 😉 you can find out more about that on the EP3 website.

On Friday July 22

Things kick off bright and early with the opening session keynote, followed by the art of persuasion, getting your competition too happily promote you, how to create videos that will be at high point of your marketing campaigns and content hacks that will show you how to get super cheap traffic from Facebook.

Saturday, July 23

The day starts off with another kick butt opening session followed by a class on how to attract and keep great client relationships, then moves on to how to up level your business without losing that personal touch and you’ll discover why the money’s not in the list it in the backend.

After a yummy lunch you’ll learn how to connect and create transformation in your business as well as how to attract and retain the buyers brain for more profits.

Sunday, July 24

will be the last awesome opening session followed by small group masterminds and a creative marketing strategies workshop that will teach you how to get customers that buy!

If you are an event VIP, there are some very nice extra perks and benefits, including a 3-hour mastermind lead by Nicole dean on Monday, the 25th. This is reserved for super pass holders only and is for people who really want to take action and grow their business.

vipNow for a little more of Kelly's back story. Even though she started her business in 2002 she never traveled to a live event until 2009. Before that she would watch online, see her friends go and admittedly feel left out and a little green with envy.

Which again resonates with my story because I have been at home raising my fabulous daughter, working away (alone) and haven’t had the opportunity to attend this or any live event yet. However, I am coming to the realization that networking and going to live events like EP3 are a very important part of growing your business.

"Sure you can do it without them, but why?"

I’ve always pushed these types of events to the backburner. I told myself I was too busy, I couldn’t leave my daughter, it was in in my budget, it's not for me but in all honesty it’s been fear. The fear of stepping outside of my comfort zone. After all I’ve spent years building a cozy little cocoon for myself and my business.

Does this sound familiar?

Don’t get me wrong I love working at home and I wouldn’t change the opportunity’s it’s is provided me, but it can be isolating, especially when you’ve been doing it for a long time.

The longer I do this than more I understand how important it is to get to know other people in your industry, build relationships and network with like-minded people and YES spend time socializing face-to-face even when you’re scared and it feels like it’s not something you need to do to grow your business, because it’s not true!

Imagine This

Close your eyes and imagine for a minute how fast your business could grow by getting to know people who share common goals and how those experiences could make a real difference to your success.

It could be the chance to meet people you’ve worked or done business with if in the past. it could be an opportunity to meet new people, forge new relationships and meet joint ventures partners that will help you propel your business to new heights.

exposureandprofit-1During the event you’ll learn lot about content marketing and how you can use it to get more exposure and ultimately more profits for your business online.

One thing that Kelly teaches that sticks in my mind is a common mistake that is made by many solo entrepreneurs (I know I’m guilty) It’s not promoting ourselves enough.

We create content but we don't put it out there for people to see and even worse we don't make sure that there's a call to action that leads to money. We’re too passive and we end up not getting the results we know can.

I bring that up because it has been the focus of the event over the last two years and will definitely carry over to this year.

There will also be a lot of talk about building relationships and growing a community with the idea that when you put people first and you really try to understand their wants and needs you can offer them creative solutions that meet those needs that they will happily pay for.

Ok, I've rambled on enough for this post, but before I close I want to urge you to go take a look at EP3. Check out all the fantastic speakers and classes, then make the decision take action for your business!
