Simple Ways To Decide What Content To Include In Your New Video Products
When it comes to creating your own video products there are certain guidelines that you can follow that will help you figure out what content to include when creating the script for your video. If you keep these guidelines in mind during the planning and production stages of your video product you will have a much easier time creating it.
The first and most important thing to consider is your target audience. You must have a clear view of who are you trying to reach. Research the general demographics of your target market. Some basic things that you will need to know are their; age, gender, nationality, level of education and income range. It is extremely important to properly define your market, narrow your target audience, and create your video product with a specific group of people in mind. By focusing a specific group of people you will increase the probability that people will want to buy your new video product when it is finished.
Next you need to consider what type of video that your target audience will respond too. Will they respond to a step by step tutorial made from slides, images and text or would they respond better to a full motion training or interview style video. For instance; someone who wants to learn how to write the perfect term paper may prefer screen shots and text examples, a skateboarded trying to learn a new trick will be drawn to a full motion example of how to do the trick and a business owner trying to hone their marketing skills would prefer watching an interview from an expert.
You also have to determine whether or not you have enough knowledge on the topic to create the script for the video content yourself. If you find yourself in a position where you do not have enough knowledge on your chosen topic then you should seek out an expert on the subject and work with them to create the script for your new video product. When possible look for someone that is already considered and expert on the subject. This will instantly give your video product more credibility with consumers.
The length of your video is another important factor that you will want to keep in mind during the planning and production stages as well. For example; if you are creating a promotional video for a product or client, the length of your video can be as short as a sixty second commercial, or as long as three to four minutes to present a product demonstration or description. Keep in mind that promotional video’s should almost never be longer than seven to eight minutes.
On the other hand if you are creating a do-it-yourself tutorial or educational type video then your video’s can range anywhere from ten to thirty minutes. When you are creating this type of video product you may want to consider breaking down the content into several short lessons instead of one long video. This will make it easier for your customers to digest the information that you are providing them with.
If you keep these simple guidelines in mind when you create your video product you will discover that you will have a much easier job during planning and production stages and the end result will be a product that is more focused and profitable for your business.
