What a week it has been with no power, but we made it. However, for some (like my sister) in the flood zone who just had to evacuate her home for the second time and all the people who are still suffering without power or worse yet very little food and water it isn’t over yet. They are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thank goodness her and her family are safe here with us and we have electricity again, so we can all do our best to try and get back to some sense of normalcy. There is still a lot of clean up to do and hopefully her home won’t sustain any more damage from the flood waters.

Right now, we have nine people, six dogs and five cats in the house and while we’re bound to get on each other’s nerves at least a little bit the important thing is that we’re all safe and together. Wish us luck!

I must say, I don’t enjoy these mandatory vacations. Being completely cut off is a very scary and frustrating thing. Even though they say it’s possible to run your business on mobile devices this isn’t always easy especially when you have no power for a week and most of the cell towers in your area are out. On a good day, I could send and receive random texts but it was spotty at best.

I am just now sorting through all the emails and messages I received. Doing my best to respond to all the wonderful people, customers and subscribers (like you) who reached out to check on me and my family during the storm. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. I’m so thankful. There just aren’t words to express my gratitude.

Until now I really hadn’t thought much about how my business would survive a disaster. Thank goodness, I’ve been doing this for so long that I have certain systems in place to make sure that my income didn’t suffer too much, but this long stretch of not being able to actively participate in my business hurt financially for sure.

It also showed me where my weaknesses are, so as I get back to work I can do my best to fix the areas that are weak and improve my existing systems so if something like this ever happens again my business won’t suffer.

Have you ever thought about what would happen to your business if disaster struck?

As I was sifting through my email I noticed one from Susanne Myers of Piggy Makes Bank. Her and her business partner Tracy Roberts were in the path of Hurricane Irma too. In the email, she mentioned a blog post she wrote titled “Is Your Business Ready to Weather the Storm?” that I want to share with you today.

You can read it here.

It’s about a lot more than making it through a hurricane like we just did or any other type disaster, whether it’s a health crisis or a natural catastrophe there are things you can do to ensure your business will keep working for you until you’re back on your feet. I hope you find it as helpful as I did and that you take some time to think about what would happen to your business if disaster struck.

One of the ways they are keeping their business strong and consistently driving traffic to their website is by offering free content that people like you and I can use to make our jobs easier. It's a GREAT shortcut that most online publishers don’t take advantage of partly because they have NO idea it’s possible to use pre-written content as their own, but we know different 😉

Nicole Dean from Coach Glue is always telling me load those articles up into you blog as drafts and the next time you need to write a quick post, you’re ready and it’s true. It's nice because you can use them as your starting point to create something completely unique and as she likes to say “totally awesome” to feed your readers!

I hope you've gotten some good ideas that will help you make your business stronger and if you're in need of great (FREE) PLR content you can use on your blog, here is a whole page full.

It really will help you spend less time in front of your computer, so the next time you get your hands on a great pack of PLR articles don’t waste any time uploading them to your blog as drafts so you're ready when ever you need to post!

Thank you for reading. I appreciate you and I hope you have a great day. Did I mention how wonderful it is to have electricity again 😀 I'm so glad to be back online!

Until later,
Lisa M Cope

Happiness is a choice! All you have to do is choose it! 💖 Sometimes we forget 😇

Have you ever met someone that always seems happy and wondered what their secret was? Some people just seem to ooze joy! I always feel extremely blessed when I meet one of those people because their happiness is contagious.

I was speaking with a nice gentleman that works at my local grocery store one day. He is one of those eternally happy people, so I asked him “what’s your secret to happiness?” His response was simple and profound. I choose to be, he said! That response hit me like a ton of bricks and it serves as a constant reminder that happiness really is a choice.

Since that talk I have discovered that happy people aren’t held captive by their circumstances. They don’t seek happiness in relationships with other people or the possessions they acquire. They understand that once you stop chasing the societies definition of happiness, you’ll begin to see that the choice to be happy has been right in front of you all along.

You may be thinking; what does this have to do with growing my business?

Well, I recently read this article and watched the video below on Entrepreneur.com and in it Gretchen Rubin author of the Happiness Project talks about how becoming self-aware can lead you to success as an entrepreneur and it got me thinking that success (whatever we think it might be) isn’t the goal. Happiness is!

Here is that video ~ Enjoy

When we go into business we often think, success is the goal. For example, I want to make X amount of dollars or have X number of clients. We think “I will be happy when I’m driving my dream car, when I am married, when I’m living in a house on the beach or when my business hits its first million” and there is nothing wrong with that. But the truth is, you’re happy when you finally make the decision to be happy. Once you do that everything else will follow including business success.

Final thoughts sometimes knowing that happiness is a choice isn’t enough it requires a conscience decision to be happy every day. So, consider this your reminder that it really is a choice. One that only you can make!

What will you choose? Leave a comment below and let me know!
