This week’s tip all about using social media to
attract more customers!

There is little doubt that many online users spend a lot of their time on social media sites. How does this affect you as a marketer? Well, when used correctly social media has the potential to more than double the number of marketing leads when compared to traditional methods.

Why, because people love to share information especially when it comes to things they’ve bought and used. Who doesn’t like to go around telling their friends to go see a great movie? This concept easily applies to anyone who is selling products or services both online and offline.

For instance, Amazon has a huge influence on what products people buy by allowing their customers to leave reviews and feedback on their purchases. The majority of people will read through these comments and allow it to influence their buying decision.

This same principle applies to social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. When people are sharing, liking and tweeting about great products the seller will enjoy a nice boost in sales. The opposite is true if a product gets a bad review. Sales will dip and may even stop all together. So, which one sounds better to you?

It is important for anyone selling products or offering a service today to have social media presence. This way customers can post and share feedback and comments about your products. By offering high quality products and providing great customer service via social media you can easily gain attention for your products and services online.

Look at Twitter for example and watch how active it becomes when people start retweeting about events that are making news. While your products may not be headline news your Twitter followers can (and most of the time gladly will) help spread the news about what you have to offer and why they like it!

Keep in mind as you post that people love to do research online for just about everything they plan to do or buy. If they happen to find your company along with posts and comments about how great your products and services are then you will naturally see an increase in new customers.

If you haven’t given much thought to using sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram it’s never to late to start incorporating them into your marketing plan. After all they are free to use and once you get a nice following you can use your influence to generate more leads and more sales for your business so it’s a win all around!

This week’s tip all about Email Frequency!
Exactly when should you mail your list?

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a number or a schedule you could follow? While it would be great if there was research that suggested that mailing every 3 days will get you the best results, unfortunately there's no such thing and there’s a very good reason for that.

Every market, every niche, every audience and every person is different. While you’ll never make everyone on your list happy, there is a lot you can do to make almost any email frequency work.

First the ground work

You never want to have too much time lapse in between emails, or your readers will forget who you are. Anything less than once a month isn't good. In fact, for most business models and in most any market you don’t want to mail less than twice a month.

On the other hand, you don’t want to send more than one email per day on average. Yes, you may have days when you have a good reason to send multiple emails, but on a weekly or bi-weekly average, you don’t want to email more than once a day.

Figuring out when to mail

Start by looking at what you’re doing right now. Then figure out how often you want to mail.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Will you grow a closer connection with your subscribers by emailing more often?
  • Do you want to drive more traffic back to your site by emailing them links frequently?
  • Do you want to grow your income by making more frequent email offers?

Once you know where you’re at and where you want to be, you can make a plan for getting from point A to point B!

What you don’t want to do is to go straight from emailing once every few months to daily emails. It will cause your readers to click the spam button faster than a speeding bullet. Instead, start to gradually increase the frequency of the email you send and let your readers know you have more to share with them. Continue to add additional mailings until you're up to the goal you have in mind.

Find a good reason to mail

If you feel the need to mail more often then find a good reason. Explain to your readers why you’re mailing them daily. For example, if you usually publish a weekly newsletter with the occasional promotional email in between, running a 15 or 30 day challenge for your readers is a great excuse to hit their inbox daily without seeming pushy or making them feel like you're spammer.

Audience feedback

Always listen to your audience feedback on email frequency. Just keep in mind there will always be some complainers and take them with a grain of salt. If you receive complaints from multiple people regarding the same thing then you may want to rethink your strategy.

Lastly, look at data like open rates, clicks and unsubscribes to get a better feel for what frequency is working best for you and your audience.

This week’s tip all about plugging those pesky (money stealing) leaks in your sales funnel.

This week we’re going to dig a little deeper into the topic of sales funnels and talk about why they leak and what you can do to fix it.  For a business owner with a solid funnel in place, it’s easy to look at the number of subscribers at each level of the funnel and predict relatively accurately what the sales are going to be from day to day or week to week.

However, if you have a funnel in place and your numbers aren’t looking good, chances are your funnel has a hole. Maybe even two or three, where subscribers are falling through the cracks. The good news is that once you learn how to spot the leaks, they’re easy enough to fix.

Why Your Funnels Leak—And What to Do About It

Leaky funnels are usually caused by one (or more) of the four common problems:

- Slow or no traffic 

 The very heart of your sales funnel is traffic. Without visitors to your blog or opt-in pages, you’ll have no subscribers. Without subscribers, you’ll have low (or no) sales and without sales, you’ll have no business. Yet this is where many of us struggle. How can you get more eyes on your content and more subscribers into your funnel?

 The fix for getting more traffic

 Traffic generation is an entire industry of its own, but here are some tips: Use good SEO to encourage search engines to rank your content well. Be present and active in the places where your ideal consumer hangs out, whether that’s on social media, in niche forums, or at live events. Use paid ads to drive targeted traffic to highly relevant pages. Recruit JV (joint venture) partners and affiliates to promote your offers. Buy solo ads in related email newsletters.

- The follow-up

This is a leaky funnel mistake that a lot of new entrepreneurs make. They spend a lot  of time and energy setting up a great squeeze page and driving traffic to it, they deliver the goods to their new subscribers, and then nothing. No follow up emails, no offers. Nothing – crickets- silence!

- The follow-up fix

Before you spend time building that opt-in page or offer, be sure you have a back-end product funnel to promote and a series of emails in place to send to those subscribers you so carefully collected. If you don’t it will end up costing you money instead of making it.

The call-to-action

This happens most typically at the top of the funnel. Your blog posts, social media content, podcasts, YouTube videos. Everything that you offer for free must have a call-to-action (CTA), or it’s dead end content and a waste of your time and energy. Your call-to-action can be as simple as “Subscribe to my newsletter for this free report” or “Follow me on Facebook for great tips,” but it must be there.

 - The CTA fix

Every time you write a blog post or an email, think to yourself, “What do I want my readers to do when they’re done reading/listening/watching this?” That becomes your call to action.

- Not making offers

When you’re just starting out, this can be a problem. You know you need to build a mailing list, but with nothing to offer them, what’s the point? The truth is, there are plenty of ways to make money in your funnel even if you don’t have your own product to sell. You just have to get creative!


- The offer fix

When you don’t have your own products to sell you can promote affiliate offers. No matter what industry you’re in, there are a variety of tools and products your readers need. Find those tools, sign up for the affiliate programs, and recommend them to your readers. Not only will your readers thank you for pointing them in the right direction, but you’ll earn a tidy commission, too.

Now that you know how to spot a leaky sales funnel you can fix it with a few tweaks and some attention to your follow-up systems. Once you plug those holes you should see an increase your profits in no time!

This week’s tip all about how a sales funnel works.

For an online business owner, a sales funnel is probably the most important marketing tool you have. And yet many entrepreneurs (both new and established) don't have a clear understanding of what a funnel is or how it works.

So what the heck is a funnel, anyway?

As I'm sure you can imagine, not taking the time to fully understand this critical part of your business can and will lead to fewer sales, lower profits, and ultimately, an unstable business.

The Simple Sales Funnel

At its most basic, a sales funnel consists of free content, which typically requires nothing of your readers. Many sales funnels begin with blog posts, YouTube videos, Facebook content, and other information readers can access at no cost. This is the “top” of your funnel.

Next, you’ll have an attractive offer that requires a very small “payment” of sorts, typically an email address. You’ve seen this type of offer on websites all over the internet, and probably even signed up for some. Hint, there is one on the right side of this page 😉

Your offer can be anything of value to your website visitors like a free ebook, report, how-to guide, video series, checklist, workbook, or other content that's made available to them in exchange for “opting in” to your email list.

Once a new person joins your mailing list, you’ll then present them with the free gift as well as a series emails that include more information and low-cost offers. Perhaps you have a low-priced ebook or a trial membership.

Customers who purchase your low-priced product move further down the funnel, and are presented with more, higher priced products. As they continue to buy, they move closer and closer to your top-end offers, which make up the bottom of your funnel.

How Your Funnel Works

If you imagine your funnel as looking like, well, a funnel, it’s easy to see that your free content at the top is consumed by the largest number of readers. Below that, your extreme low-cost item (available only for the cost of an email address) attracts a smaller subset of the true freebie seekers. Next, your low-priced products bring in yet a smaller group.

Finally, as you near the tip of the funnel, the loyalest fans and customers
will purchase your higher priced offers.

Your job, as the business owner, is to ensure that your funnel leads buyers naturally from the top, free offers all the way to the bottom. The more buyers you can keep in your funnel, the more money you'll make.

Most new and even established business owners can easily envision the top of the funnel, but if you truly want your business to grow, you must master the entire process, and that starts with understanding what a funnel really is and how it works.
